  6. Thank you for purchasing Pro CD Select Street Atlas.

  11. This document contains important information that
  12. supplements the on-line help and printed documentation.
  13. Refer to the Troubleshooting section in the on-line
  14. help for additional information about using your software.

  16. TROUBLESHOOTING:
  17.  
  18. 1.  FONTS
  19.  
  20.  - Select Street Atlas requires that Arial and Times
  21. New Roman fonts be installed.  These are Windows supplied
  22. fonts and can be installed from the Control Panel.
  23.  
  24.  - If fonts are not printing properly, set the "Print
  25. TrueType Fonts as Graphics" in your printer driver options.
  26. To change this, select File from the menu then choose
  27. Print Setup and click on the Options button.
  28.

  30. 2.  PRINTERS
  31.  
  32.  - When printing black & white on color-capable printers,
  33. be sure to select the "grayscale" or "halftone" option
  34. in your printer driver options.  To change this, select
  35. File from the menu then choose Print Setup and click on
  36. the Options button.
  37.  
  38.  - If only part of the map is printed, you are probably
  39. running out of printer memory.  To correct this problem,
  40. try setting the printer to a lower resolution or print
  41. a map that has fewer streets by zooming in or out.
  42.  
  43.  - If your printed map is using Courier fonts for street
  44. names or for the legend, you are probably running out
  45. of resources.  To correct this problem, close other
  46. applications, or save your file and restart Windows.

  49. 3.  LOW RESOURCES
  50.  
  51.  - Select Street Atlas uses Windows "resources" for
  52. displaying pictures, colors and fonts.  All active
  53. applications use a single set of resources.  If only
  54. 30% of the resources are free while running Select Street
  55. Atlas, you may encounter problems displaying and printing
  56. maps.  Resource information can be seen by selecting Help
  57. from the Program Manager menu and choosing About.
  58.  
  59. If you receive a Low Resource error message, close other
  60. applications or restart Windows to return the resources
  61. to the highest level.  See the on-line help for more
  62. information.

  65. 4.  MISCELLANEOUS
  66.  
  67.  - Saving Your Work
  68. To better assure protection of any work in progress, use File
  69. Save early in the session.  This activates the prompting for
  70. further saving when you choose File Open, File New or Exit the
  71. program.
  72.  
  73.  - Copying to the Clipboard
  74. When pasting a map into another Windows document choose Paste
  75. Special from the Edit menu and when presented with a choice,
  76. select "Bitmap".
  77.  
  78.  - Windows 95 with Networks
  79. Before launching Select Street Atlas, be certain that network
  80. resources (drives and printers) are connected so that they
  81. appear as local resources.  This permits network access from
  82. File dialogs such as Open, Save, etc.
  83.  
  84.  - Systems with Multiple CD-ROM Drives
  85. If your computer has more than one CD-ROM drive, you can
  86. configure Select Street Atlas to run with Disc 1 in one drive
  87. and Disc 2 in another drive.  To do this, you will need to 
  88. edit the SELATLAS.INI file in the \WINDOWS directory.  In the 
  89. [Drives] section, change the drive letter of MapCDDrive=n:\
  90. to match the drive containing Disc 1 (Select Street Atlas). 
  91. Change the drive letter of GeoCDDrive=n:\ to match the drive
  92. containing Disc 2 (Select Places).  Save your changes.
